Mother's Day, Doctor Day, and Other days

Mother's Day.....
I had a great first mother's day. First, Cort got dedicated at church sunday morning. It so nice to have such a wonderful family at church. I feel great knowing that Cort will grow up in a church that is dedicated to praying for and leading the children to become followers of Christ. I love knowing that he has so many people that love him and pray for him. Then, we went to the park and had a great picnic. It was a beautiful day and really nice to get out of the normal routine. Cort made me ;) the cutest little card with his little face all over it!!! It's so weird to me that this was my mother's day.

Doctor Day...

Cort had his four month well check this week. He weighs 11 lbs 12 oz(8th percentile) And is 25 inches long(50% percentile). Weight gain is still slow and he still hasn't wanted to each much. The past two days have been a little better. We switched bottles - from Dr. Brown's to Playtex Drop-ins with the old school latex nipple - he seems to like them better. I also think maybe his double dose of prevacid might finally be helping a little. He still doesn't want formula so I continue to pump. It's a little annoying but I don't really want him on formula anyway. We will slowly introduce it back as he begins to eat better and takes the bottle okay. The doctor wants to see him back at 5 months to check his weight. She said if he starts to fall off his curve from here that we may see a specialist for blood work but she does not expect us to get to that point. We are going to go ahead and start solids. I was not anticipating this as we had talked about starting solids very slowly with him due to his digestive issues and his sensitivities to things( ie rashes, etc.) but she wants to see if it sort of spikes his interest in eating and maybe it will help with the reflux as well. He checked out great on everything else and handled his shots like a champ - a screaming champ- but a champ none the less.

Other days.....

On days that it is the normal routine- here are some of the things Cort does.....

I like to....

Smile at my mommy doing silly things

Play with my toes

Check out all my cool toys

Sit in my mammoth rocking chair and eat my
yummy medicine( it's all over my face)

Ham it up for the camera

Help mommy do the laundry

Enjoyed catching up with Cort and you! So glad to hear everything turned out ok on the Upper GI!!! I ( well i should say Tallon) LOVE the Playtex bottles/nipples- they have worked out wonderful for us. I even buy the generic bags to go in them! Hope the Prevacid cont to help!

Emily, Bauer loves the Playtex bottles and nipples too. When he went on that breastfeeding strike back in early February, that is how I was finally able to get him to take something other than a syringe. We used the latex nipples at first, because they just seem the most realistic. However, after he got the eczema around 6 months, we had heard that latex was a possible allergen, so we switched to the silicone nipples (while still using the same Playtex bottles and liners). I don't think he would have taken to the silicone nipples at first because they are a lot harder, but once he got the hang of the latex real well, Bauer didn't seem to mind switching. Oh, I also wanted to thank you for your last comments on my blog, about sleeping and naps and books you've found helpful. It really is so nice to hear from other people who are going through similar things. So thanks again for making the comment to try and help me. I will talk to you again soon. Oh, one more thing, I love the picture of Cort - the one that says he is sitting in his chair taking his medicine. His face looks so adorable in that, like a baby puppy or something :)

Emily,

I just read your comment on Chrys' post and wanted to let you know that we have a 5month-er that has been 5% in weight, and fell just off the chart two weeks ago. We go back on Monday for another weight check, but am confident he'll have gained enough to put everyone at ease. He's also 50% on head and length, and really is a happy, healthy baby boy. Cort looks completely adorable and a happy boy too. There just smaller right now, but I think, totally fine. I'll pray for continued gain for your little guy.
