Cohen is 6 months old. Praise God.

It's been a good month for Cohen. He has done well with his breathing and has picked up at least a little on his eating. He rotates now between a 3-4 hour eating schedule and takes 3-4 naps a day just depending on our day. He still wakes at night to eat but has slept through the night a few times. We still swaddle him but he usually has his arms out.

This months he started solids and seems to be starting to enjoy them a little more at this point. We even started putting 4 oz in his bottles for some of his feeds. His weight gain is still a bit slow but it's coming along. I'll have a measurement for you in about 2 weeks.

He got a little cold this month and ended up with an ear infection. He handled it pretty well and is own the mend.

We had a lot of big doctor appointments this month. We saw the geneticist again and saw shriners( the orthopedic doctors). Neither appointment gave us much info but at least he's being followed by those doctor's now. We were able to get a full set of xrays at shriners that our geneticist sent to the guys in Germany and they continue to feel like it looks like he does have odontochondrodysplasia.

As far as physical development goes nothing too new to report. He does continue to get a little stronger and have a little more trunk control . We are working on trying to get him to use his arms and hands a little more. He still doesn't roll very often though I am pretty sure that if he wanted to he get to his tummy. ( he hates tummy time) He turns all the way to his side from the other side - almost to his belly.

He is starting to take a little more interest in some toys. He LOVES his bath. He kicks and splashes fanatically and gets us pretty wet in doing so. I got him a new tub this month that allows for a little more wiggle room and he seems to like it. We have hooked his old tub to the big tub a few times to let him take a bath with Cort and he seems to like that too but isn't quite as comfortable.

To celebrate his 6 month birthday Cort picked out a balloon for him at the grocery store( of course, Cohen would want the Thomas balloon) and we took them on a train ride at the pavilion. I guess it's just part of being the little brother that your big brother dictates the things you'll love and would want to do. :) Cohen seems to enjoy the ride. Cohen really does like his balloon he follows it( with is eyes) all over the place!!

Cort found this old hat in our coat closet and called it his party hat all day....
Cohen's newest silly face consist of him tucking in his lips around his gums and smacking his lips- he frequently looks like this these days.....

Or he has his hands or fingers in his mouth - sometimes the whole hand.

And just because I can resist... here's a little Halloween preview....
I actually took this one back for the next size up because this one was a little tight in the stride!!! Yea for something being too small for Cohen!!!(never mind that it was NB size and he's swimming in the 0-3)

I enjoy reading your blog so much. I loved your idea for the artwork in Cort's room, so cute!! Ethan hasn't moved to a big boy bed yet. He seems pretty attached to his crib so I don't look forward to that change. Cohen looks adorable in his Halloween costume. We are going to put Bennett in Ethan's batman costume from his first Halloween. I'm sure it will be enormous on him! We continue to keep Cohen and your family in our prayers. We love your little miracle.

He is so adorable!! Both your boys are. I LOVE the Halloween costume!

When my boys were small and at the kicking stage, we'd loop a balloon's string around one of their ankles, and that would keep them busy for a LONG time. They loved making it bounce around, and watching those shiny balloons!

Congratulations on an absolutely miraculous 6 months. I am so happy for you all!

YAY! I love reading your blog... I can't wait to make David a big boy room. I have never had any boys in my family so it will be a treat to get to try out boy stuff. I love your ideas for decor and may have to steal some of them when the time comes. Hope all is well, Natalie and I are having our own little playgroup and have invited Casey and Avery to join us. If you would ever be able to, just let us know. I know Cohen may not be able to get out this fall but maybe next spring or summer...

I could just eat Cohen up in the little Halloween outfit! Too, too cute!

By the way, how did you connect your baby tub to the side of the big tub. Genious!

I LOVE what you did with Cort's room. I adore artwork done by yourself. Thanks for sharing it.

And I am so glad you gave us a sneak peek of Cohen's Halloween costume. It is too cute for words. He is so adorable.

I hope all is going well for your family. It sounds like it is.

I just don't think you could ever, ever know how happy it makes me to look at this sweet miracle boy! He is awesome and the light in his eyes just speaks volumes of the great plans the Lord has for him!

You have been on my heart so much lately, as I remember well what it felt like to have a six month old miracle Mattie. I would look at her, then think of all the mothers I had grown to love during her battle with gastroschisis (in utero and for a month after in the NICU) whose arms were empty. Like you, I continued to love them and pray for them. And every time I see that you have come and read my words, I am so blessed. So blessed because I know that heart and because the Lord has not let you turn away, but instead allowed my baby touch your life, too.

I am praying for you as you face the daily, very real challenges of life with two little ones and a million appointments. No matter how miraculous your child is, life still gets hard and days get long, and you find a normal of your own. I am praying you find joy in your days with these boys and that you know what joy your family brings to so many more people than you will ever, ever know!

Thank you for being you and for letting me love your boys. :)
