It's been a good week. We went to the pulmonologist on Monday and got the go ahead to try to wean Cohen off of his oxygen!!! We are doing oxygen just every other night and so far he seems to be handling that well. We are a little cautious about getting our hopes up too much because we know from past experience that Cohen does well without oxygen for a few days - the question is how long can he sustain that?
We went to the eye doctor this morning. It can be common for children with these type of genetic disorders to have severe eye problems. Cohen's eye checked out great and we don't have to follow up for a whole year!!! My calendar is very appreciative of that!! :)
Cohen had a horrible rash for the past two weeks and even developed some pretty bad eczema and that has all cleared up this week! Yea!!
We introduced dairy back into his milk this week and so far no rashes!!! I haven't started eating it yet but we are using frozen milk from before I took it out of my diet. If he still seems fine with it in a few days than I can start eating cheese again!!!! ( maybe just in time for birthday!!) Putting dairy back in will def. simplify some things for us with grocery shopping and cooking and such so that will be nice. On other eating news, I think his eating has improved some - this week as been much smoother with feedings and his volume as increased a little.
We finally have a therapy schedule set up. We will alternate between going 2 times a week and 3 times a week. One of the therapies is on a day that Cort will be in MDO come fall so that is great. Also, a super nice neighbor( Hey Joy!!) is keeping Cort for another therapy session - it is SO nice to just walk him across the street and he loves playing with their little girl. It's nice to be working out Cort's childcare - I've got a few more things to figure out and then I think I'll some type of structure to it.
As I go back and look over blog posts I wrote during our pregnancy and even as I read the updates our friends so graciously supplied while we were in the hospital, I am overwhelmed at God's goodness. It gives me chills that I am able to write about things like dairy, reflux, and rashes - not that any of those things are fun or easy but I sometimes I just can't believe the little miracle sleeping in my house right now!!
