Forward Motion....and more fall fun!!!

Cohen has been scooting backwards on his belly for a little while now and we've been trying to catch it on tape because he looks so cute - almost like he's doing the worm or some break dancing move. He's pretty fast at it but it really makes him mad because he wants to be moving forward. Well, we caught it on tape plus a little bit more..Can you believe that we actually caught on camera, his first time SCOOTING FORWARD!!! It's a bit more of a snow plow then an army crawl but we'll take it. He keeps his face down on the ground the whole time and I have NEVER wanted new, clean carpet more than I do right now!!! He's done it a few more time and hopefully will get that head up and use it more often soon!! The video is a little long but hang in there...we're so proud of him!!!

There are two more adorable( in my totally unbiased opinion) videos at the end.. can you tell we got a new video camera? ")

We've typically gone to Boo at the Zoo every year. The member night got canceled due to rain, on our one other free night we were all still a bit under the weather and we didn't have another free night to go so we improvised. We set up our own Boo In the Zoo with animals all around with treats for the boys. We made good use of our millions of animals and even had a reptile house!! It wasn't nearly as exciting but the boys both loved it. In fact, we played "boo at the zoo" a million times over and over and over( you get the point) again!!

Waiting in the bonus room for the Zoo to open...

One of Cort's favorite Halloween hobbies...lining up and counting his candy!!

There's a pavilion here complete with a little train. We sort of forget about it and don't go very often but we did, rather last minute, remember about their Enchanted forest night and squeeze in yet another fall activity!! It was really cute...they had games, costume contests, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a fairy tale character trail to get treats, and a "spooky"( i use that term very loosely) train ride. It was fun!!

riding the train...

This one is from our church's trunk or treat, where this is basically the only picture i got to take because I was busy with two demanding little ones and blowing up balloons!! It's one of my favorite events of the year though..so fun for everyone to come out together!! And this is one cute little puppy, if I do say so myself..

Every year since we've had kids, the whole pumpkin carving festivity has been a bit overrated. We always think it's going to be a ton of fun but somehow it has always been riddled with little time, fussy kids, and just one big mess!! Well, this year, pumpkin carving tried to inch it's way into our life as one of our favorite fall activities!! Cort was super excited and let his imagination run wild with it all and was quite the little pumpkin goo( our families official word for it) scooping worker bee, and Cohen, while at first seemed uninterested put on quite a display for his love of messy things and being silly!! Plus we had to pay a little Disney tribute!!!

The still shot of Cohen enjoying the pumpkin goo( see video at the bottom for live action - notice we threw more towels down in the video!!))

Cort making his own pumpkin seed concoction( see video below)

Trying to get Daddy to eat the above concoction, complete pumpkin seeds, water, apples, M&M's, bread, and grapes all "cooked" in the oven( not actually turned on:))...trying is the key word here.

It's Fall Ya'll...

.... and we've been busy over the past week or so doing lots of fun fall festivities. And so I've got another dose of picture overload for you!!

We kicked it off with our annual trip to SkyTop to pick yummy apples. This year, there weren't a lot of apples left on the trees but we still had a blast and brought home plenty to eat!! I've been the most successful this year with using up our apples in yummy ways... we made apple dumplings for dessert one night and made and froze extras of apple pancakes, applesauce, apple muffins, and apple pie filling. Yum!!! The pancakes have been a huge hit and the boys have loved having them in the mornings for breakfast. I have a few apples left to do something with and I think I'll make another few batches of those and freeze them.

We didn't know it at the time, but Cohen was developing a fever while we were at the apple orchard...he wasn't his usual happy self and looking back at the pics I can tell the illness was setting in.(it ended up just being a quick 24 hour fever virus of sorts) and we still had a great time...

Cort's annual pic by his name( no, we didn't name him after the apple!!)... you can see his first one in this post

The apple signs made Cohen laugh for some reason...

Cohen loved rolling this apple off the bench for me to catch...

notice the little tongue roll...

making apple muffins...I borrowed one of those big apple peeler things( Thanks, Marsha!!) and it was great!!!!

There are still plenty of leaves left on the trees around here but enough have started to fall that we raked up a decent little pile for a little jumping one afternoon...

and really, is there much else cuter than little baby shoes?

well, except for maybe this...

This past weekend we went to our annual place to get our pumpkins! The ground was super wet from the insane amount of rain we had so we couldn't play as much as we usually do but the boys had a blast and we got some cute pics. We love going here... we bought 5 pumpkins for $8!!! (some were tiny ones, but still!!)

and just because I wish I looked this cute when I have a fever...
