A few weeks ago, I came home from running errands. The house was nice and quiet.Everything was clean and put away. Chris had Cort down for his nap. I walked down the hallway and this is what I saw in our bedroom - it made me laugh.
Reading Bedtime stories in the fort later that night...
Just 2 days before Sophie got a new baby brother - she and her mom, Kelley, hung out with us for the day. The kiddos had a great time. Tommy and Chris joined us after work and we all enjoyed dinner together. A dinner of 6 would soon be 7!!!
We have play group every other Friday. Cort really enjoys it. It's about to double in size since almost everyone in it just had or is about to have a baby!!! We've attempted a few times to get a group picture - it never really turns out that great - here's our latest attempt...
Cort and I went to visit Aunt Chelle and Chandler in September( i know, we're still really far behind). We had a great time. Cort and Chandler really enjoyed each other and Cort did a great job traveling.
The bounce house in Chandler's backyard - how cool is that?
The death grip - I mean the hug.....
See - she really wasn't strangling him
And the sweet kiss
The Children's museum - Cort loved it!! He loved the grocery store and would make me laugh that he would fill his cart with cheese and milk - love the dairy -just like his Mommy!! He also really like painting in the craft room.
Happy kids after the museum
Riding the Crocodile at the aquarium
2 little monkeys.... one fell off and bumped his head - literally - but then asked to get right back on!!! Chandler accidentally bounced Cort right off the bed - i thought he was crying because he got hurt but then realized it was just because he wasn't on the bed anymore( don't know why it is underlining!!)
Potty Time - Cort was obsessed with Chandler's potty chair - he kept sitting on it over and over. I grabbed my camera when he sat on it with his feet in it and then just in time to catch it on camera - he Pee-peed in the potty( and all over his feet)!!!!
Several weeks ago we took Cort for his first hiking trip. We borrowed a back pack carrier from some friends and took off on a 2 mile hike at Ceaser's Head. It was great and Cort absolutely loved it. At the top, we had a picnic lunch and then headed back down. Cort didn't fuss at all and excitedly pointed out everything he saw.
For the past few mondays Cort and I have been joining friends downtown for a free starbucks drink and outdoor story time. Starbucks makes the kids milkshakes and do this great storytime under the big bridge. Cort loves it - when it was warm we went to the sprinkler park that is right down sidewalk -now that 's it cooler we just run around the park and enjoy a picnic. It's been a great way to start the week. Don't have great pictures - but here's a few from the first time we went.
Cars and helping Daddy wrapped up in one - what could better?
August/September were good and bad car months! We sold the Jetta and got a more family friendly vehicle ( Toyota Highlander)!! The great thing is we actually saved money and got a bigger, newer, fewer miles car!! Yea- God is good! The not so great thing is that Chris' car went in to the shop 3 times!!! Not so yea. But all is fixed now and hopefully it will last a bit longer!!
We sometimes keep our good friend's little one, Nancy. Cort didn't used to pay much attention to her but now he does. he really likes handing her things and crawling with her.
Cort continues to love music. He sings or has us sing quite often and he is very particular about songs in the car. They don't have to be children's songs - he just wants to approve of them. A few of his classic children's favorites are Happy and You Know it, Little Bunny FuFu, Pop goes the weasel and Old MacDonald had a Farm. He either sings or does movements to all of these quite enthusiastically. Here's some pics of him doing it in the bath tub...
Happy and You Know it
shout hooray clap your hands
Pop Goes the Weasel he always pops his head for pop goes the weasel.
We decided to send Cort to Mother's Morning Out this year one day a week. He LOVES IT!! He actually runs down the hallway and and tries to climb over the gate to get into the room before the teacher comes to get him. He always gets a good report. It's so funny to pack his little bookbag and his lunch box. It makes him seem so big. Here's a picture of his first day of School - Sept 6.
Welcome to our blog, take a look around. What you see is just a typical family trying our best to enjoy all the blessings God has given us in the midst of everyday life! Two of our favorite little blessings will fill most of the posts of this blog, our 4 year old first born, Cort, and our almost 2 year old, 2nd born, Cohen. Cohen was diagnosed with a fatal form of dwarfism at our 20 week ultrasound and we were told he had no chance of living more than a few minutes to hours at birth. He is a true miracle, a daily reminder of God's power and glory. Pull up a chair, enjoy the ride...we are!!
