Pumpkin Patch Poses

The boys were hamming it up at the pumpkin patch this year. We annually go to this little farm not far from our house where the scatter pumpkins to make a "pumpkin patch." It's the simplest little place but somehow our boys just love it.

Cohen's First......

This was well worth breaking out of chronological order!!! This has been a fantastic day. My best friend, Kelly, called in the middle of the night to say she was in labor and heading to the hospital. The next time I heard from her I couldn't answer the phone because I was videoing Cohen taking his first steps at therapy this morning!! She forgave me!! We took video at therapy but I don't have those yet, so we recreated it at home...using M&M's instead of toys as motivation!! Hey, it worked!!

Then, Harper Elizabeth, was born around 2:30 this afternoon, weighing in at 7lbs 4 oz. and 19.25" long!! CANNOT WAIT to see her!!

Also, on today( Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day) , remembering all the sweet mom's I met due to our journey with Cohen and their sweet, sweet sons and daughters that have already gone Home.....Issac, Asher, Miller Grace, Tristan, Maddox, Eva, Reagan, Poppy Joy, Joshua....and sadly many more... your children are truly a blessing.

Praising God for all of His wonderful blessings today!!!

My First Field Trip

I had a lot of fun chaperoning my very first field trip! We did a local apple orchard and the kids had a great time. It was fun getting to see Cort in that setting with all his classmates and his teacher.

summer wrap up

Have I mentioned before that Cohen loves to wear hats, I mean really LOVES to wear hats. And he doesn't really discriminate, any hat will do, in fact, even a pair of shorts will do....

And who needs shorts on your bottom when you have a pair of diaper jeans? I swore I'd never buy these but then couldn't pass up a great deal of practically free diapers at CVS so...the verdict...they were actually quite cute, if I'm honest.

On a random walk one day, we discovered a caterpillar scooting across the road. Cort asked to keep him and at first I said no. Then, I gave in. We brought him home and set up a home for "marty" in and old fish aquarium. We looked up what type of caterpillar it was and found out that it needed to eat willow tree leaves. So off we went, to find willow trees. Luckily we had some friends around the corner with a willow tree. So we stocked up.
The next day Marty was already hanging upside down!!! A few weeks later, he emerged!! Cort was SOOO excited. We kept him for a day in a butterfly cage and then set him free. Cort still swears he sees him flying by sometimes when we are out and about.

Towards the end of the summer we traveled to Raleigh to celebrate our nephew, Nicolas', fifth birthday. As always, it's good to get everyone together to hang out and it was fun to celebrate Nicolas. All 4 grandkids had a great time hanging out.

Evening Down Town

It was a hot summer - can I get an, Amen?

One evening toward the end of the summer, we had a little nicer weather for a change and we sort of "spur of the moment" decided to head down town to get in a little sprinkler park action and a picnic! Fun times!! The boys both loved the water and exploring the park.

Bowling

We took the boys bowling for this first time for a fun family outing. The boys loved it. We had to go around and around with the bowling lady about why we wanted for Cohen to bowl since he couldn't fit in any of their shoes and that he wouldn't be walking on the floor anyway. No matter how many times we explained it, she jsut kept saying. "how's he gonna bowl if he can't walk." It was just almost comical how hard it was for her to understand. Either way, they all bowled and had a great time - even without the bowling shoes.

Summer fruit for the winter..............

My friend, Molly, and I have ventured into canning this year. We've both done a little here and there but his year we tackled it head on. First, we canned a TON of strawberry Jam this spring - so YUMMY. Then we decided try our hand at canning peaches. It was fun to do it together and learn as we go. My favorite so far is definitely the strawberry jam and I think Molly would agree. Next year, I plan to make at least twice as much as I did last year. The peaches were time consuming and didn't turn out as well as we would have liked but still good. I think we were hoping they maybe wouldn't be quite as mushy as store bought canned peaches but they are. They do taste better for sure and they have been great for yogurt and peach pancakes!! But the fall brings applesauce, apple butter......I need a new pantry just to hold all the goodies!!!
