Then, right before Christmas, he fed himself with a spoon for the first time and we have pictures to prove it!! Since then, it's become a bit of problem( though one that I'll gladly take) because he wants to sit at our table, eat exactly what we are eating, off of exactly what we are eating off of, and with exactly whatever we are eating with. Though the we would mainly be Cort( i need to get two identical sets of everything apparently!!). He's crazy messy eating with a spoon and has a hard time really scooping but he loves it!

He has recently started scooting around on the bottom. He never really took off with the scooting on his belly thing even though he does it on occasion but has figured out how to do it on his bottom. It's slow and difficult for him right now( unless he's in the tub or on our hardwoods) but he's getting the hang of it and seems highly motivated!!
And last ,but certainly not least, my little boy is TALKING!!! That's right he started saying his first words at the beginning of January and has added about a word a week. He has nine or ten words right now and here they are in the order he said them:
Dog( da, dag, or dat)
Hot(ot)
Cat( c-t, dat, at)
dada( though a bit inconsistent)
Balloon( ba)
ball( baw or ba)
any fruit or vegetable( bagum) - don't ask us we have NO idea but he is very consitent with it
dip( dop)
drop(dop or bop)
And we sometimes think he says Hi or hey but we aren't sure.
He signs more, eat, and please.
It thrills me to no end that he has begun to talk!! I love hearing his little voice and can't wait for him to communicate more! It's funny that dog, cat, and hot were his first words becuase Cort's first two words were cat and hot!! I'm just sorry that it took me so long to get it up here. To be honest, it took several weeks and several people to convince me that it was really happening. My heart just didn't want the disappointment if it didn't stick ( as this has happened with a few of his milestones). Don't get me wrong we would love Cohen if he never talked, I just really want him to be able to communicate his wants and needs!!
Can't believe in a few short weeks I'll be doing his 2 year post!!!! How amazing is that?

GO COHEN!!!!! He certainly looks like he loves to feed himself!!! And I know it's messy but there is nothing more adorable to look back on than pictures of a messy baby or toddler feeding themselves! I've actually decided to decorate my kitchen with pictures of my kids eating and covered in food from when they were little. :) So exciting to see all of these wonderful milestones for Cohen!!!
We are in super messy eating stage too! I try not to get frustrated and realize there is actual progress and learning taking place.
I love his list of words - especially the fruit/veggie one...Wouldn't you just love for kids to be able to explain where those things come from.
Can't wait for the two year post!
I want to steal Cohen's hair (and eyes)....but seriously all of that blonde hair...I love it!
Alright Cohen!!!! Those are some very awesome big time milestones!!! Love the pictures and I bet his vocabulary is really going to boom now! I can't get Sonya to stop talking at this point! Wow, 2 years!!! So exciting!!!
I can not believe it's been almost 2 years. My mind has been going back to those weeks a lot lately. Adah just had her birthday too. I am so excited that Cohen has started talking. And I have to say you're a better woman then I with the feeding themselves. That has grossed me out since child 1. But I'm glad for you because I know these milestones are so huge for Cohen. Maggie still waves and laughs at the computer whenever she sees him and it warms my heart. Again, I can't believe they're almost 2.
Milestone mania, for sure! Great job, Cohen!
Both of your boys are so adorable, Chris and Emily! Such a blessed family!
WOW! Cohen is really doing so much lately! He's getting so strong and as always so adorably cute:)
YEAH-you know that talking and eating are two of my favorite things!! We love y'all! :)
I really can't get him a "dag" for his birthday? C'mon.....
He is such a big boy now!
I chose your blog for an award...please come by to pick it up! :-)
