Happy St. Patricks Day

Sorry that I am posting so late today. Chris and I switched off this morning at the NICU so that he could go into work for a few hours so it was harder to post.
Cohen has had a decent day. They took out his feeding tube and want to see how he'll regulate himself and gain weight if we just let him eat what he'll eat. He did okay today but not super. He took 3 of his bottles pretty easily, 1 with some coaxing, and 3 of them he only took about 2/3 of it, and we still have one more to go. We'll find out tomorrow if he gained any. He does seem a little more tired today. The doctors took him off the room air but then decided to let him stay on it as he builds up his endurance and strength with eating. We feel like that is probably a smart move instead of changing everything all at once.
They did Cohen's vision test today too and he passed. Yea. They were concerned because apparently some babies with certain skeletal dysplasias can have some pretty serious eye problems so we were really excited about that.
Chris and I are pretty tired today. Our energy seems to come and go about every other day but we're hanging in there. We just continue to be amazed and feel so thankful at every day we have with him. Yes, our God is good.

I am still amazed and so excited to read every update. Cohen has been a great reminder to me of just how powerful God is. He is absolutely precious. The last picture looks so much like Chris. Having done the NICU thing, I am praying specifically for rest and healing between the coming, going, work (Chris) and pumping (Emily). Your faith is amazing and has been a blessing to so many.

Oh Emily and Chris,
He is just beautiful. I am praising God that he continues to pass his tests and amazes you. What a treasure and I agree to ease him gradually one thing at a time. He is doing so good.
Praying for you both to be able to get some good rest and build your energy back up. This has been quite a few weeks for you. Praying him home for Easter or soon after.

Love, Laurie in Ca.

I accidentally clicked the wrong button and it enlarged the picture of him taking his bottle and those beautiful eyes were suddenly looking at me, bigger than life. Those gorgeous eyes are so full of life and the power of God shines through them until I have been brought to tears. Praise you, Lord, for this miracle baby and sweet reminder of your awesome power.

I've never met your family (as I'm sure is true with some others that leave comments on your blog), but through the grapevine I have heard of your family's story. You have been in my prayers over the past months. What a precious miracle Cohen is. I commend your family for sticking through this and just want you to know that you all will remain in my prayers. Hopefully you will be able to take your baby boy home soon. He is beautiful!

Chris and Emily,
May the God of peace this Holy Week continue to strengthen and bless you through this gift of life - and as we prepare to celebrate our own new life in Him, we will continue to praise! Thanks for sharing in your faith journey - we have been invited into a piece of your heart song, and it echos for the Lord.

Peace of Christ this Holy Tuesday,
Shannon Hayes

Thank you so very much for sharing your family with us. I check-in on you all each day and am continuing to pray that God will meet all of your needs. Cohen is such an amazing blessing and miracle in the truest sense of the word. I love seeing his pictures and reading about his progress. While I do not know you – you all are very important to me. Cohen is never far from my mind and prayers. May God continue to bless you all in every way. With love- Amber
